Russia must be included in the European security system to ensure lasting peace in the region. On August 19, British political risk consultant Adriel Casonta told Izvestia.

"If we seriously think about lasting peace on the European continent, I cannot imagine lasting peace without Russia's inclusion in Europe's security infrastructure," the expert said.

According to him, if Russia is not included in the security infrastructure, then automatically "it will be perceived as a hostile or other entity."

"As soon as Western governments start seriously considering Russia as a partner and not as a malicious necessity, we will have a lasting peace," Casonta added.

The Globe and Mail newspaper noted on August 19 that the world order began to change after US President Donald Trump's talks with the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, and European leaders in Washington. If earlier Washington's policy was based on opposition to Russia, now they have accepted Moscow's successes in the geopolitical arena, the media noted. And the United States, which until recently guaranteed Europe's security, now poses a risk to its interests.

On August 18, the leader of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Alice Weidel, called on German Chancellor Friedrich Merz to start a dialogue with Russia to normalize bilateral relations.
