- A local resident who made explosive devices for terrorist attacks was detained in the LPR.
Law enforcement agencies have detained a local resident in the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) who was creating explosive devices for terrorist attacks and passing information about the Russian military to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). This was announced on August 19 by the Department of the FSB of Russia for the region.
"It has been established that a resident of Anthracite, on the instructions of the SBU, manufactured explosive devices from components received from the Ukrainian side," the agency said.
According to the agency, the explosive devices were intended to commit terrorist acts on the territory of the LPR.
The man was arrested, and a criminal case was opened against him for treason, as well as illegal possession and manufacture of explosive devices. In addition, during his testimony, the detainee confessed that he had planned to kill a high-ranking Russian serviceman.
"I was asked to carry out an active event. It consisted in the fact that I had to choose a high-ranking serviceman of the Russian army <...> and undermine him. They didn't specifically emphasize it, but I understood that this should be done by the anniversary of the beginning of the SVO," the man said.
According to the detainee, he did all this because he owed money to a representative of the special services.
Earlier, on July 22, it was reported that two residents of the Khabarovsk Territory had been detained in Tatarstan in a case of treason. It is specified that the attackers contacted an employee of the Ukrainian intelligence service in order to obtain Ukrainian citizenship and move to its territory. Residents of the Khabarovsk Territory received from him the coordinates of a cache containing explosives and elements of an improvised explosive device for committing a terrorist act.
