- The State Duma spoke about the built-up system of countering illegal migration in the Russian Federation
A system has been created in Russia to prevent illegal migration. This was announced on August 19 by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.
"Since 2024, the State Duma has adopted 21 federal laws in the field of migration policy, 17 of which were initiated by deputies. A system has been created to prevent illegal migration," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to Volodin, responsibility for organizing illegal migration and participation in such crimes has been strengthened in the Russian Federation. Such crimes now face up to 15 years in prison.
The Chairman of the State Duma also provided an analysis of law enforcement practice. It follows that in the first half of 2025, the number of detected crimes under Article 322.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Organization of illegal migration") increased. The rate of suppressed violations by foreigners of the rules of entry into Russia also increased by 27%.
Volodin added that in the first six months of this year, 17% more migrant violators were deported from Russia than in the same period in 2024. He recalled that on August 11, a law was passed expanding the grounds for termination of acquired citizenship of the Russian Federation. Now there are more than 80 of them.
"This means that law enforcement agencies have even more opportunities to restore order in the migration sphere," Volodin concluded.
On August 17, the leader of the Fair Russia — For Truth party, the head of the Duma faction, Sergei Mironov, said that migrant workers should work in Russia without families and leave after completing their work. Mironov stressed that this way there will be enough places in kindergartens and schools in Russia.
