French President Emmanuel Macron called Geneva a possible venue for talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky. He stated this on August 19 in an interview with TF1 TV channel.

As the French leader noted, a neutral country should be chosen for the meeting between Putin and Zelensky.

"Maybe Switzerland, I personally advocate Geneva, or another country," Macron said.

The French president also recalled that the last time the bilateral talks were held in Istanbul.

Zelensky and Trump met at the White House on August 18. The closed-door talks lasted about 30 minutes. After that, the American and Ukrainian presidents talked with the leaders of the European Union countries.

Later, Trump announced the beginning of the search for a place for talks between Putin and Zelensky. The American leader stressed that US Vice President Jay Dee Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy of the American leader Stephen Witkoff are coordinating their actions with Russia and Ukraine.
