Ushakov: the conversation between Putin and Trump lasted about 40 minutes

US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, which lasted about 40 minutes. This was announced on August 19 by Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov.

It is specified that the telephone conversation between the two leaders took place at the initiative of Trump.

"The Russian President reiterated the importance of Donald Trump's personal efforts in finding solutions leading to a long—term settlement in Ukraine," Ushakov said.

According to him, the US president, in turn, informed Putin about the negotiations that had just concluded with the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, and the leaders of European countries.

Zelensky and Trump met at the White House on August 18. The closed-door talks lasted about 30 minutes. After that, Zelensky and Trump met with the leaders of the European Union countries.

The meeting was attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, British and Italian Prime Ministers Keir Starmer and Giorgia Meloni, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and the Presidents of France and Finland, Emmanuel Macron and Alexander Stubb.
