Rubio announced US plans to work on security guarantees for Ukraine
The United States, together with the states of the European Union (EU) and countries in other regions, will work to create security guarantees for Ukraine. This was announced on August 18 by United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio in an interview with Fox News channel.
"We will work with our European allies and non-European countries to create security guarantees. We are working on this right now and will continue to work," he said.
According to Rubio, such guarantees should be created after the conclusion of a possible peace agreement.
Zelensky and US President Donald Trump met at the White House on August 18. The closed-door talks lasted about 30 minutes. After that, Zelensky and Trump met with the leaders of the European Union countries.
During the talks, Trump said that Russia was not against Ukraine receiving security guarantees.
