Russian Ambassador reports on contacts between Russia and Israel on Syria

"As for the Israeli angle, the channel of Russian-Israeli communication on Syrian issues continues to operate. Despite the changes that have taken place over the past year, the Russian and Israeli militaries, as before, have many topics for professional dialogue," the diplomat stressed.

According to the ambassador, during recent telephone conversations between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, issues related to the situation in the Middle East, including the Syrian issue, were discussed.

"We are convinced that, ultimately, the stabilization of Syria will contribute to the improvement of the situation in the entire Middle East. This development fully corresponds to the fundamental interests of both Russia and Israel," Anatoly Viktorov said.
