- Karasin spoke about the impact of the Alaska agreements on the settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.
The atmosphere of the meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States in Alaska should be continued in the form of concrete results, Grigory Karasin, head of the Federation Council's International Affairs Committee, told Izvestia.
"We have the right to expect these results from the upcoming meetings in Washington. Although there are few hopes that the European community and leaders like [German Chancellor] Friedrich Merz will calm down. [US President] Donald Trump is in a good mood for concrete agreements, while a group of members of the "coalition of the willing" arrived in the United States in order to restrain [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky's refusal to make decisions necessary for the world community," Karasin told Izvestia.
Earlier, Trump announced significant progress in relations between Russia and the United States after meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on August 15.
