Guards Corporal Shchelkunov destroyed two JDAM bombs

Guard Corporal Serhiy Shchelkunov participated in the defense of civil and military infrastructure from the air attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on Tuesday, August 19, told about the exploits of Russian servicemen in the area of the special military operation (SVO).

As part of the anti-aircraft missile crew, Shchelkunov was on combat duty when he noticed that several air targets were approaching the Russian positions and the defended facility. Based on the technical characteristics of the Guard, the corporal concluded that the objects in the sky were guided aerial bombs. Shchelkunov promptly informed the command and hit the targets with missiles. As a result, it was possible to destroy two JDAM bombs and protect the protected facility.

The Russian Defense Ministry also noted the high professional skills of Corporal Vladislav Pavlov, who provided combat support to Russian motorized rifle units during the battle.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted artillery and mortar fire on Russian positions. Despite the threat, Pavlov ensured the continuous operation of the gun, reloaded and aimed the sight in a timely manner. As a result, it was possible to destroy a significant mass of enemy manpower and a mortar of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which contributed to the advance of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Earlier, on August 18, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Guard Sergeant Igor Kuzuba, as part of an assault group, carried out a combat mission to capture an AFU stronghold. He and his comrades secretly approached the enemy firing point, took up an advantageous position, surrounded the enemy stronghold, after which he fired an RPG-7, destroying a machine gun and wounding two Ukrainian servicemen.

Prior to that, on August 17, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Russian army had hit the locations of Ukrainian armed formations and mercenaries in 142 districts. In addition, air defense systems shot down 300 drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
