Macron did not attend the meeting of Zelensky and EU leaders in Washington
French President Emmanuel Macron did not attend the meeting of Ukrainian Leader Vladimir Zelensky and the leaders of the European Union at the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States, because he arrived in Washington too late. This was announced on August 18 by BFMTV.
"Unlike other European leaders who are currently in Washington, the French president did not visit the Ukrainian embassy due to his late arrival on American soil," the journalists note.
According to the TV channel, it was not known whether Macron planned to participate in the meeting between Zelensky and EU leaders or whether he initially did not intend to go there.
Zelensky and US President Donald Trump met at the White House on August 18. The closed-door negotiations took about 30 minutes. After that, Zelensky and Trump met with the leaders of the European Union countries. The meeting will be attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French Leader Emmanuel Macron. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Finnish President Alexander Stubb will also attend the meeting.
