Candidate of Biological Sciences Pavel Glazkov said that due to the general warming of the climate, wasp spiders began to appear in the capital.

According to him, in an interview with the Moscow City News agency on Monday, August 18, in recent years they have become increasingly common not only in the Moscow region, but also in Moscow itself. Mild winters allow these spiders to successfully survive the cold season, so their sightings are becoming more frequent.

Earlier it was reported that wasp spiders are also being spotted in other regions. This spider species is known to scientists as Argyope Brunnich. Its bite is painful, comparable to a wasp sting: a swelling usually appears in place, and some people may have an allergic reaction, Moscow 24 notes. In rare cases, there is a risk of anaphylactic shock.

On August 16, entomologist Vladimir Efremenko said that when encountering wasps, you should not wave your arms or run away — the insects attack only when provoked. He explained that the swarm would not attack if they were not touched, but killing at least one wasp could cause aggression. The specialist added that there are no special repellents against wasps yet, so other protection methods should be used, writes 360.ru .
