According to the expert, there is very little data now, so it is difficult to draw any conclusions.

"We know that China was mentioned. We know that security guarantees will be outside of NATO in any case. But it is almost impossible to assume a common configuration now. It is likely that new consultations and new meetings will be needed in order to formulate specific agreements on security guarantees. In any case, this will be the outcome of the discussion, not the beginning of it," Asafov said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .

He noted that it is definitely possible to judge only guarantees that will not suit Russia. Thus, Moscow will never agree to the presence of NATO troops on the territory of Ukraine, the political scientist believes.

"An analogue of the fifth article of NATO for Ukraine was also discussed, but without membership in the alliance. This article states that NATO countries can join the defense of a member of the organization if they deem it necessary. There are quite broad interpretations," Asafov said.
