The initialing of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan in the United States is a turning point. This was announced by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on August 18.

"The signed documents in the United States are a turning point. After that, we live in a completely different South Caucasus," Pashinyan said in a message to the people of the country, broadcast by the Armenian Express agency on its YouTube channel.

In addition, he stressed that peace has been established between Armenia and Azerbaijan following the results of the signed documents. The Armenian Prime Minister added that in the new reality, hostility between the two states must be rejected.

Earlier, on August 8, Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a declaration on the peaceful settlement of the conflict. During the meeting in Washington, they agreed to end the confrontation and resume diplomatic relations. Later, Pashinyan said that Yerevan and Baku established peace by signing documents in the United States.

Later, on August 11, Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a telephone conversation with Pashinyan, expressed his readiness to contribute to the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan. In addition, the Russian leader stressed the importance of steps that contribute to ensuring sustainable peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
