Mass inspections of SUVs are taking place in Sochi. They began after several accidents involving jeeps, including a fatal accident that occurred the day before, on August 17.

According to KrasnodarMedia news agency with reference to the traffic police, in one day, department employees recorded 79 violations by off-road vehicle drivers. Two cars were in a technically defective condition, they had to be evacuated to a special parking lot.

The agency warned that inspections will take place every day. Since the beginning of the holiday season, 1,8 thousand administrative protocols have been drawn up against violators. These are mainly the lack of documents for transportation, unauthorized alterations of cars and technical malfunctions.

On August 17, a fatal road accident occurred in the Lazarevsky district of Sochi while jipping. In the village of the Third Company, the UAZ driver lost control on a turn, the car flew off the road and overturned, hitting the guardrail. A 24-year-old man and a 16-year-old teenager were killed, and seven more people were injured.
