The National Automobile Union proposed banning license plates AUE and VOR
In Russia, they called for the withdrawal of license plates with the letter combinations "A U E" and "V O R" from circulation, as well as the re-registration of vehicles with registration plates with such letter combinations. This initiative was put forward by the National Automobile Union (NAS), which sent a corresponding appeal to the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Kolokoltsev (available in Izvestia).
NAS Vice-President Jan Heitser recalled that the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation in 2020 recognized the public movement "Arrest Criminal Unity" as extremist, and its activities in Russia are prohibited. According to the legislation, propaganda and public display of attributes or symbols of extremist organizations is extremist activity.
Despite this ban, the Russian Federation uses license plates with the letters "A U E" and "V O R", which can be considered as a public display of attributes or symbols of a criminal subculture, representatives of US noted.
"There is a steady demand for such letter combinations in state registration plates, they are in demand and are the subject of resale. The cost of reissuing such combinations of numbers ranges from 65 thousand rubles for the reissue of the GRZ A325UE750 to 1.7 million rubles for the A770UE77. The renewal of the GRZ B164OR777 will cost 185 thousand rubles, and B555OR50 — already 5 million rubles," the document says.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that, as stated in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, currently traffic cameras are not used to automatically check CTP policies. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation did not specify exactly when the inspection of the avtogradanka from the cameras would be launched.
