Watermelons from China and Asian countries are exported to the Krasnoyarsk Territory

Watermelons from China and Asian countries are being transported to the Krasnoyarsk Territory. In seven months, about 5 thousand tons of watermelons were exported to the region. Of these, 4.8 tons were transported from Asian countries. A year earlier, only 1.5 tons from these countries were brought to the region.

Chinese watermelon exports to the region also increased. This year, 189 tons were delivered from there, and last year — only 42 tons, writes KrasnoyarskMedia news agency with reference to the regional Rosselkhoznadzor administration.

The ministry noted that in recent years, the watermelon season in the Krasnoyarsk Territory lasts almost all year round. Since the end of May, watermelons have been imported to the region from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. In August, they are delivered from Dagestan, Astrakhan and Volgograd regions. Watermelons from China arrive in the region from October to spring.

Earlier, on August 11, it was reported that more than 2 thousand tons of watermelons and melons have been harvested in Crimea since the beginning of the season. Due to the hot weather, the fruits ripened earlier than usual. About 505 hectares of farmland were allocated for melon crops. The harvesting work will last at least another month. Crimean vegetable growers are supported by the state. This year, the industry received financing in the amount of more than 22 million rubles.
