Poland criticized the idea of sending troops to Ukraine
The idea of sending a peacekeeping contingent of European countries to the territory of Ukraine after the end of the conflict, proposed by representatives of the "coalition of the willing", is a bad solution for a peaceful settlement. This was announced on August 18 by the head of the Office of the President of Poland, Zbigniew Bogutsky.
Earlier, on July 11, the newspaper Le Monde reported that France and the United Kingdom would begin expanding to 50,000 the combined contingent of military personnel who could potentially be deployed in Ukraine after the conflict was resolved. French leader Emmanuel Macron clarified that soldiers from other European countries could also join the contingent. Later, on August 17, the "coalition of the willing" announced its readiness to deploy a multinational deterrent force in Ukraine after the end of hostilities.
"One more point should also be clearly emphasized: today we are dealing with the so-called "coalition of the willing." We could have already forgotten what kind of coalition it was, and it was a coalition of countries ready to send their troops to Ukraine. This is not the best solution," Bogutsky said on the Poranny Ring podcast on Super Ring's YouYube channel.
Former Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said on August 17 that the European Union was forced to accept its secondary role in resolving the conflict in Ukraine due to an illiterate strategy. For example, Europe refused to start negotiations with Moscow in a timely manner and made "erroneous bets."
Also on the same day, Michele Geraci, former Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Italy, told Izvestia that Europe, by supporting Ukraine, had independently deprived itself of the role of mediator in resolving the conflict.
