Short–term bank deposits for three to six months remain popular due to their flexibility, as such deposits allow them to maintain liquidity and respond promptly to changes in the Central Bank's key interest rate. Evgeny Shatov, a partner at Capital Lab, told Izvestia on August 18.

"The main advantage of short—term deposits is the ability not to "freeze" money for a long time. However, their profitability is usually lower than that of long—term ones, and inflation can significantly reduce real profits," he noted.

According to him, it is wise to distribute funds between several banks in order to minimize risks and take advantage of special offers for new customers. On the one hand, it allows you to diversify risks and speed up access to payments in case of problems with the bank. On the other hand, the investor gets the opportunity to enjoy bonuses and increased rates for new clients. Investors often use the "deposit ladder" strategy, opening deposits for different periods, which helps to balance profitability and access to funds.

As an alternative, the expert recommended paying attention to short-term federal loan bonds (OFZ), as well as money market funds that can provide returns above bank deposits with a similar level of risk. Savings accounts are also a competitor for deposits, as they provide the opportunity for partial withdrawals and can generate interest at the level of short-term deposits.

"Short—term deposits are more a tool for managing liquidity and temporarily parking capital than a way to outrun inflation. The most rational approach today is to combine them with bonds and funds in order to maintain a balance between security, flexibility and profitability," concluded Shatov.

The information in the material is not an investment recommendation.

On April 19, independent financial expert Andrey Barkhota told Izvestia about where to invest in 2025. In particular, according to him, the profitability of bank deposits may exceed 20% per annum. For example, an investment of 1 million rubles will bring the investor more than 200 thousand rubles of net profit per year.
