- The singer's father, Charlotte, announced that the artist recognized some of the violations in the colony.
Singer Eduard Charlotte, convicted of rehabilitating Nazism and awaiting transfer from a penal colony to a general regime penal colony, admits only a part of the violations attributed to him. His father told Izvestia about this on August 18.
According to the prosecutor's office, while serving his sentence, the artist was repeatedly brought to disciplinary responsibility.
"Nothing can be fixed. Someone made the decision to transfer him. He admits some [violations], some he does not recognize," the man said, adding that the court's decision had not yet entered into force.
On August 18, Charlotte was transferred from a penal colony to a general regime penal colony. During the period of serving his sentence, he incited other convicts to negative behavior and violated regime requirements, for which he was repeatedly disciplined.
The singer was detained at Pulkovo Airport on November 22, 2023, where he arrived from Yerevan. The artist was transferred to Samara. On November 30, three criminal cases were initiated against him — on two counts of rehabilitating Nazism (Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and one of insulting the feelings of believers (Article 148 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). On December 27, 2024, Charlotte was sentenced to 5.5 years for rehabilitating Nazism. The court also dismissed the criminal case on the theft or damage of documents (Article 325 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). During the hearing, the singer apologized to the residents of Russia.
