- Lukashenko demanded to improve the quality of services in the tourism sector of Belarus
If cockroaches crawl in hotels, foreign tourists will not go to Belarus. This was stated on August 18 by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during a meeting with the leadership of the Council of Ministers.
"To put it bluntly, if cockroaches crawl on the walls and under the beds in hotels, then no tourists will come here," the Belarusian BelTA news agency reports his words.
According to Lukashenko, in order to increase the flow of tourists, it is necessary to improve the quality of services and further develop the infrastructure of the tourism sector. He also added that a level is needed at which Belarusians themselves would choose their country for holidays more often.
At the same time, Lukashenko noted that citizens often choose holidays abroad, specifying that this applies to those countries with access to the sea and a hotter climate.
Natalia Osipova, Executive Director of the Alliance of Travel Agencies, said on April 14 that Krasnodar Krai was among the most popular destinations for Russian tourists during the May holidays, adding that Belarus was also popular at that time. She added that at that time, almost all the popular resorts there were booked.
