- Monument to the heroes of the defeat of the Kwantung army to be installed in Khabarovsk
Khabarovsk has identified a place for a monument dedicated to the Victory over militaristic Japan. It will be installed in the Muravyov-Amursky Regional Park.
According to IA AmurMedia, Ussuriysky Boulevard was previously considered for the monument. It has long been a place of remembrance: the Border glory Square, the alley of the history of the protection of the Far Eastern borders, monuments to the prosecutor's office and the Russian police, and a monument to Felix Dzerzhinsky were erected here.
However, it has now been decided that the monument to the heroes of the defeat of the Kwantung Army will be located in a more visible and significant place. Governor Dmitry Demeshin invited sculptors and architects to develop a sketch of the monument.
The competition Regulations state that the monument should reflect the triumph of the Soviet troops in one of the most successful operations of the Second World War — the Manchurian Strategic Offensive Operation. The monument should also fit into the park and the architectural appearance of the entire city.
Applications for participation in the competition will be accepted until September 1. And on September 30, the winners will be determined by an expert commission. The cost of the project is estimated at 35 million rubles.
Earlier it was reported that the Khabarovsk Territory has developed a new historical, cultural and educational tourist route "Khabarovsk Territory. Dear Emperors." As part of this educational project, travelers will be able to visit places visited by representatives of the Romanov dynasty.
