The State traffic Inspectorate announced a preventive raid in Moscow

The Moscow State Traffic Inspectorate will hold a one-day citywide preventive event "Pedestrian". It will be held on August 19, according to the Telegram channel of the department.

Employees of the highway patrol service will monitor the observance of traffic rules by both pedestrians and drivers.

"As part of the raid, traffic police will conduct information and explanatory work with children and adults on the rules of road safety when crossing the carriageway, as well as norms of behavior in the residential area and in courtyards," the traffic police said.

The State Traffic Inspectorate also said that over the past week (from August 11 to August 17), 162 accidents were registered on the capital's roads. 10 people were killed and 166 people were injured. Among the injured are 29 children under the age of 16.

The most frequent types of accidents were vehicle collisions and pedestrian collisions — 58 and 51 cases, respectively. The most dangerous day was Saturday, on which 29 accidents were registered. The least number of road accidents occurred on Sunday (16 accidents).

Earlier in the day, the State Traffic Inspectorate told Izvestia that over the past weekend, 716 accidents occurred on Russian roads, in which 77 people were killed and 899 injured. Three children were killed: two were drivers of motor vehicles, one was a passenger.
