660 people died due to monsoon rains in Pakistan
At least 660 people have been killed and 929 injured in Pakistan due to heavy torrential rains and related incidents since the end of June, when the monsoon season began in the country. This was reported on August 18 by the newspaper Caliber Az.
"According to the local National Disaster Management Authority, about 2.5 thousand buildings were damaged, almost 30 thousand people were evacuated and placed in temporary shelters," the publication says.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was the most affected area. 392 people died there. At the same time, 245 were injured. In Punjab province, 164 people were killed and 582 injured. It is specified that victims are registered in other regions.
At the moment, the authorities are taking all necessary actions to save lives and minimize the damage caused by the disaster.
