- Karoff, the artist who created the 007 logo for Bond films, has died at the age of 103.
American designer Joe Karoff, who designed the 007 logo for the James Bond film series, died at the age of 103. This was reported on August 17 by The New York Times (NYT).
According to the publication, the artist died in a home hospice in Manhattan. Recently, the designer received palliative care at home and did not live just one day before his 104th birthday. The cause of Karoff's death has not yet been announced.
The artist has designed posters for more than 300 films. Despite this, he avoided everyone's attention.
"Karoff's work became widely recognized for its style of interpretation, which could be bold, elegant, theatrical, whimsical, sensual, and deceptively simple in promoting a book or film and conveying its essence through a single image," the article says.
Karoff has worked on films such as "Last Tango in Paris," "Zelig," "Manhattan," and "The Last Temptation of Christ." In addition, in 1980, he created the logo for the ABC Olympics project, which broadcast the Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid.
