The share of travelers who have taken out insurance for a trip within the country in 2025 has exceeded 50%, according to a study by the financial marketplace <url>, which was reviewed by Izvestia on August 19.

At the same time, every fifth insured tourist is confronted with an insured event during the trip, which underlines the importance of insurance protection.

A travel policy has become a mandatory attribute for every second tourist. The average willingness of Russians to pay for international insurance is 3,000 rubles. Foreign tourists are aware of the need for comprehensive protection: almost half (48%) of those traveling abroad always purchase insurance, and 15% do so if a policy is required.

At the same time, 40% of such travelers are willing to pay more than 3 thousand rubles for insurance, provided good coverage. The majority (61%) still choose health insurance exclusively, but 24% prefer extended policies. At the same time, 47% of those who did not need the policy noted that they felt calmer due to its availability.

"Domestic tourism also demonstrates an increasing interest in insurance: 51% of Russians have issued a policy for travel around the country. However, the willingness to pay here is much lower — up to 1,000 rubles, which is three times less than for international insurance," the analysts said.

33% of travelers in Russia are willing to spend up to 1,000 rubles on a policy, and 28% are willing to spend up to 500 rubles. Despite this, 11% of Russians have used insurance while traveling around the country. For 41%, only medical insurance remains a priority, while 27% choose advanced options. Interestingly, 19% of those who did not use the policy nevertheless felt safe with it.

Tourists who actively travel both in Russia and abroad are characterized by a high degree of responsibility: 33% of them always apply for a policy, and 30% — if this is a mandatory requirement. The majority (39%) are willing to spend from 1 to 3 thousand rubles on insurance, striving for an optimal balance between cost and coverage. At the same time, 46% prefer medical travel insurance, and 35% choose an extended package.

Earlier, on May 14, Vladimir Neronov, MD, an infectious disease specialist at JSC "Medicine" (Academician Roitberg Clinic), told Izvestia about the importance of vaccinations when planning a vacation abroad. He warned that there are diseases specific to specific regions where entry may be prohibited without a vaccination certificate.
