Unknown man arrested in Belgrade for trying to set fire to the Museum of Yugoslavia
In Belgrade, an attacker threw a molotov cocktail in the building of the Museum of Yugoslavia, after the incident he was immediately detained by law enforcement officers. This was announced on August 18 by the broadcaster Radio and Television of Serbia (RTS).
A museum security guard noticed a man with a suspicious object in his hands and immediately called the police. After that, an unknown person threw a Molotov cocktail. No one was injured in the incident.
The attacker was arrested and detained for 48 hours. According to the museum's press secretary Bogdan Petrovich, the damage to the building was minor, only a fragment of marble was damaged.
The museum complex includes a mausoleum where former Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito is buried. The politician led the former socialist republic from 1945 until his death in 1980.
On August 5, police in Turkey detained a man suspected of trying to set fire to the Hagia Sophia Mosque in Istanbul. The suspect tried to light a fire in the building using papers hidden in his pocket. The fire was prevented thanks to a woman who saw the fire and notified the imam.
