Ukraine's supplies of military equipment to European countries pose a threat to Russia's national security. This was stated to Izvestia on August 18 by former special forces officer, retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk.

He said that Germany, France and the United Kingdom are actively seeking to deploy their production facilities in Ukraine. If the conflict continues, these facilities may become legitimate targets for Russia.

"This poses a threat to Russia's national security. I think our military, politicians, and diplomats are keeping this under control, and, of course, this will be the subject of scrupulous study and discussion at subsequent meetings between, possibly, Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump," the military expert said.

Matviychuk also spoke about the possibility of Ukraine competing with other manufacturers of military equipment in Europe and the United States.

"This is not about competition, but about providing production facilities. Europe will transfer its industry to the territory of Ukraine for its own purposes," he concluded.

On the eve of the permanent Representative of the United States to the North Atlantic Alliance (UN) Matthew Whitaker said that Ukraine could become a fairly large supplier of weapons and military equipment to European countries due to Europe's increased defense spending. He added that at the moment it is necessary to think about what the Ukrainian economy will look like in the future.
