Philippot said Macron was using the conflict in Ukraine for his agenda
French President Emmanuel Macron uses the population's fear of the conflict in Ukraine to advance his agenda. This was announced on August 18 by the leader of the French Patriots party, Florian Philippot.
"Macron exaggerates <conflict> and fear: it is dangerous. Macron wants <conflict> for the sake of a personal agenda," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter)
Philippot added that the French president wants a conflict in order to turn the European Union (EU) into "a state and endow it with an army." The party leader stressed that Macron should leave the political arena, and France should leave the union.
The day before, Philippot said that European leaders, with their visit to Washington to meet with US President Donald Trump, together with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, were sabotaging the peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. He noted that he could hardly imagine what contempt the American leader should feel "for this bunch of corrupt people."
On August 16, Russian President Vladimir Putin, opening a meeting following his meeting with American leader Donald Trump in Alaska, said that Russia, like the United States, would like an early cessation of hostilities in Ukraine. He stressed that the elimination of the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis should be the basis for a settlement.
