- The Polish Foreign Ministry pointed to the EU's inability to influence Trump's position on Ukraine.
European leaders who will accompany Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a meeting with American leader Donald Trump will not be able to influence the position of the head of the White House on resolving the Ukrainian crisis. This was announced on August 18 by Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Wladyslaw Teofil Bartoszewski on the Polsat TV channel.
"In fact, decisions [on Ukraine] will be made in a narrow American circle. European representatives do not participate in the negotiations. They will have a limited impact on reality," Bartoszewski said.
The Polish Deputy Foreign Minister noted that in the United States, decisions are made by one person. Bartoszewski added that Polish representatives would not be at the meeting between Zelensky and Trump on August 18, as the country does not have such international influence as the United Kingdom or Germany.
On August 18, Donald Trump will hold a meeting in Washington with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky to discuss a peace treaty with Russia. The leaders' meeting will be held at 20:15 Moscow time. On the same day, he announced that Zelensky could immediately end the Ukrainian conflict if he renounced his claims to Crimea and his intention to gain membership in the North Atlantic Alliance.
