Bashkiria opened a case on the fact of mass poisoning of children in the camp

After poisoning more than 20 children in a camp in the Republic of Bashkortostan, a criminal case was opened. This was announced on Monday, August 18, by the regional directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"A criminal case has been opened on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of consumers"), on the fact of mass poisoning of children and adults in a children's health camp," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is clarified that investigators are currently establishing the cause of the incident, examining the scene, and seizing the necessary documentation, including those related to catering and compliance with sanitary and epidemiological standards. Forensic examinations are planned, and camp management and staff, campers, and other witnesses are being questioned.

According to the Rospotrebnadzor of the region, the work of the children's institution has been suspended. There is no threat of infection spreading. The epidemiological investigation is ongoing.

"On the basis of the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, studies of biological materials of personnel who have fallen ill are being conducted, samples of food products and raw materials are being examined, and the sanitary condition of the facility has been checked," Rospotrebnadzor wrote on its Telegram channel.

The poisoning of 22 children in a children's camp in the Sterlibashevsky district of the Republic of Bashkortostan became known earlier that day. It was clarified that after examination and assistance, nine people were released home. Another 16 people were hospitalized. Their condition is assessed as moderate, and the patients' well-being is improving.
