Vologda hosted the Summer Wushu Youth Sports Contest
Vologda hosted the summer Wushu Youth Sports Contest, which brought together the best athletes from Russia and China.
The event was an important step in strengthening bilateral cultural ties between Russia and China. Tatiana Kupriyanova, First Vice-President of the Russian Wushu Federation, noted the serious exchange and fusion of cultures between the two countries at the tournament.
"The fact that our sport is probably at the peak of popularity right now, and the fact that the final of the IV Spartakiad of Youth is taking place in Vologda, is, of course, significant, I think, for all regions," she added.
Vologda Region has become the first region in which wushu will be included in the school curriculum as part of an optional course.
Earlier, on July 26, the Voronovskoye settlement in the south of Moscow hosted the Voronovo Ural Logistics Cup international athletics tournament. The competition was held in the format of a one-mile street race and a 10-km athletic walk. Representatives of Ethiopia, Kenya, Tunisia, Romania, Spain, Uganda, Morocco, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan also took part in the tournament.
