Rosatom reported on the regular operation of the Smolensk NPP after the UAV interception

The interception of the drone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) did not disrupt the operation of the Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant (NPP). The relevant information was published on the website of Rosatom State Corporation on August 18.

"The radiation background at the industrial site of the Smolensk NPP and the surrounding area has not changed and corresponds to natural values," the corporation said in a statement.

In addition, it is noted that all three power units of the station are operating normally. Rosatom stressed that attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on peaceful nuclear facilities are extremely dangerous, senseless and irresponsible.

On the same day, the Russian FSB prevented a Ukrainian UAV attack on the Smolensk NPP. It was clarified that the UAV of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was eliminated with the help of electronic warfare (EW) forces. The Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation has opened a criminal case on a terrorist attack involving an encroachment on nuclear power facilities.
