Trump: Zelensky can immediately end the conflict if he renounces Crimea and NATO
On August 18, US President Donald Trump said that Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky was able to put an end to the conflict almost immediately, abandoning claims to Crimea and the idea of the country joining NATO.
"Zelensky can put an end to the <conflict> with Russia almost immediately, if he wants, or continue to fight," Trump wrote on the Truth Social network.
In addition, the American leader noted that Monday will be a "big day" for the White House, as a record number of European leaders will visit the residence of the US president.
"The false media will say that it is a big loss for President Trump to host so many great European leaders in our beautiful White House. It's actually a great honor for America," he added.
Trump will hold a meeting with Zelensky in Washington on August 18 to discuss a peace treaty with Russia. On August 17, the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia reported that the American leader could completely stop supporting Ukraine if Zelensky did not accept his terms.
