One person was killed in an accident in the Irkutsk region.

As a result of an accident in the Zalarinsky district of the Irkutsk region, one person was killed. This was announced on August 18 in the main directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the region.

"The driver of a Toyota RAV-4 drove into oncoming traffic, lost control while making a maneuver, after which the car overturned," the agency said in a Telegram post.

It is specified that the 25-year-old driver died on the spot from his injuries. The agency stressed that the man at the wheel was not wearing a seat belt.

Police officers found that in the period from 2024 to 2025, the driver was involved in traffic violations at least 27 times. An inspection is currently underway at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

On August 17, the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Sverdlovsk region reported that four people were killed in an accident. It was clarified that as a result of the incident, a truck collided with a Scania semi-trailer and a Chery passenger car.
