- Russian Permanent Representative Ulyanov refuted statements by Western media about the "isolation" of Russia
Russia has never been "isolated" from the world and has always actively developed friendly relations with various countries. This was announced on August 17 by Mikhail Ulyanov, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to International Organizations in Vienna.
According to some Western media, the Alaska summit "broke through Russia's international isolation."
"Nonsense. Russia has never been isolated," Ulyanov replied to such statements in his Telegram channel.
He noted that Russia has always sought to establish and maintain cordial relations with the international community, not counting the countries of the European Union (EU) and the G7.
Ulyanov also stressed that the new US administration had shown political foresight by resuming dialogue with Moscow at the highest level.
Florian Philippot, the leader of the French Patriots party, said on August 16 that Russia had never been in diplomatic isolation, and most of the world was in dialogue with it. The politician stressed that the rhetoric of the Western media does not reflect the global position.
The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump took place on August 15 at the American military base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage. At a press conference following the meeting, Putin noted the American leader's desire to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. In turn, Trump said that the negotiations went very well, and called the summit in Alaska wonderful.
