If Russian scientists move under the French Pause program for scientists from other countries, they risk being "under the hood" of the French Armed Forces (AF). This was announced on August 17 by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova.

"Those who move to France to study academic science at the invitation of Paris actually fall under the hood of the French armed forces," she wrote in her Telegram channel.

According to Zakharova, Laura Loeak, who is a former employee of the department of the French Ministry of Defense responsible for relations with post-Soviet countries, was appointed to lead the program designed to attract scientists to France.

"It seems that Russian scientists really need to take the proposed 'pause' in order to understand who they are being offered to work for, especially taking into account the fact that the French military continue to participate in hostilities against Russia, and the French leadership takes a Russophobic position," the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry concluded.
