- Trump accused the media of deliberately distorting the truth about the talks with Putin
On August 17, US President Donald Trump said that the media was deliberately distorting the truth about the success of his meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
"It's unbelievable how fake news cruelly distorts the truth when it comes to me. There's nothing I can say or do that would make them write honestly about me. I had a great meeting in Alaska," he wrote on his page on the Truth Social network.
Earlier in the day, the American leader also announced great progress towards Russia.
The meeting between Trump and Putin took place on August 15 in Anchorage, Alaska. At a press conference following the meeting, Putin noted the American leader's desire to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. In turn, Trump said that the negotiations went very well, and called the summit in Alaska wonderful.
