The Presidents of Russia and Uzbekistan, Vladimir Putin and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, discussed key issues of bilateral cooperation during a telephone conversation. This was reported on the Kremlin's website on August 17.

They noted that the Russian leader informed Mirziyoyev about the results of the Russian-US summit in Alaska. In turn, the President of Uzbekistan highly appreciated the positive dynamics of the Russian-American dialogue, and also stressed the importance of achieving a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.

"Some topical issues on the bilateral agenda were also touched upon, with an emphasis on the further development of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation," the Kremlin said.

On August 8, Putin and Mirziyoyev confirmed in a telephone conversation their mutual interest in strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries. It is specified that during the conversation, the leaders of the countries discussed issues of cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan in trade, economic, energy, cultural and humanitarian fields.
