Rutte and Starmer will travel to Washington for talks with Trump and Zelensky

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will take part in talks between US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and a number of European leaders at the White House. This was reported by the BBC on August 17.

"Keir Starmer has confirmed that he will be among those who will attend the meeting between President Trump and President Zelensky at the White House tomorrow. NATO Secretary General Rutte will also take part in the meeting," the publication says.

Earlier in the day, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission (EC), announced that she would travel to the United States on August 18 to participate in a meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and the United States.

It also became known that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will take part in a meeting between Zelensky and Trump in Washington. In addition, according to the BBC, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and French President Emmanuel Macron also confirmed their presence.

On August 16, after the conclusion of the Russian-American summit, Trump called Zelensky and the leaders of the European Union (EU). On the same day, Zelensky announced a meeting with the American leader.
