- The pensioner lost four apartments in Moscow in six months of communication with scammers
The pensioner lost 1 million rubles and four apartments in Moscow for six months of communication with telephone scammers. This was announced on August 17 by the press service of the Moscow Prosecutor's office.
According to the agency, a 78-year-old woman received a call from a conman who introduced himself as a police officer. He warned the Muscovite that scammers could call her, and convinced her that in order for law enforcement officers to catch the criminals, they needed to follow all their instructions.
The pensioner, following the instructions of the intruders, took savings in the amount of 800 thousand rubles from the house and put them in the mailbox in the house, the address of which was indicated to her by the scammers. In a similar way, the scammers stole another 300 thousand rubles from her. Then the woman sold four apartments in Moscow, and handed over the money from the transactions to the criminals' messengers.
"When the "telephone law enforcement officers" began to persuade the woman to arrange an annuity for her apartment in the Moscow region, she realized that she had been deceived. The damage exceeds 50 million rubles," the Telegram channel of the city prosecutor's office said.
Earlier, on August 14, scammers lured 17 million rubles from a pensioner from Kaliningrad, who came to Moscow. The victim received a call from an alleged employee of the public services portal with information that third parties had gained access to her bank account. The woman was persuaded to withdraw all her savings and transfer them to a "secure account."
