A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The North group of forces attacked the manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian armed forces in Sumy and Kharkiv regions. As a result of the actions of Russian servicemen, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost up to 180 militants, two armored combat vehicles, seven vehicles, three field artillery guns, an electronic warfare station and four ammunition depots.

In turn, units of the Zapad group of forces improved their tactical situation and defeated formations of the Ukrainian army in the areas of settlements of the DPR, LPR and Kharkiv region. The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine amounted to more than 220 military personnel, an M113 armored personnel carrier made in the USA, a Snatch armored fighting vehicle made in the UK, 17 vehicles, an artillery piece, three electronic warfare stations and three ammunition depots.

"Units of the Southern Group of Forces improved their position along the front line, defeated the manpower and equipment of six mechanized, mountain assault, airmobile brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the air defense brigade in the areas of the settlements of Fedorovka, Chervonoye, Seversk, Kleban-Byk, Vasyukovka, Serebryanka, Konstantinovka, Dronovka and Ivanopolye of the Donetsk People's Republic. The enemy lost up to 250 soldiers," the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.

The Russian army, with the help of operational and tactical aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and artillery, defeated the storage site of Sapsan missiles and their components, ammunition depots and long-range drones, temporary deployment points of Ukrainian armed formations and foreign mercenaries in 142 districts. In addition, air defense systems shot down four guided aerial bombs and 300 aircraft-type drones.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, since the beginning of the special operation, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost 665 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 77,959 UAVs, 625 anti-aircraft missile systems, 24,618 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,586 multiple rocket launchers, 28,625 field artillery and mortars, 39,813 pieces of special vehicles.
