Sobyanin assessed the effectiveness of the MCD-3
The MCD-3 has become the most popular of the Moscow central diameters in two years of operation, said the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin. The surface metro line runs from Zelenograd to Ramenskoye through the capital.
"The third diameter connected 24 districts of the capital and four districts of the Moscow region — another 3.2 million people received a surface metro," Sobyanin wrote on his Facebook channel. A total of 39 stations have been opened on MCD-3, 13 of them are transfer stations. The diameter has already unloaded the neighboring metro lines by 15%, the mayor noted.
Sobyanin stressed that the construction of the MCD-3 was "a difficult and ambitious task." To do this, the Mitkovsky branch was actually rebuilt in the center of Moscow, a new tunnel was built, train stations were erected and the stations were restored. In addition, the rolling stock has been completely updated on the route — only Orioles run from Zelenograd to Ramenskoye, the mayor said.
The Moscow city Mitkovo railway station was built for this purpose, Sobyanin recalled. A three-level city railway station has been built in Zelenograd with a convenient transfer to land transport.
The third diameter of the capital's surface metro (MCD-3) was launched on August 17, 2023. The ceremony was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.
