The WSJ reported on two scenarios for the end of the conflict in Ukraine
Following the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump in Alaska, Ukraine may lose part of its territory, but it will retain its sovereignty. This was reported on August 17 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).
The publication writes that there are two possible scenarios for the end of the conflict in Ukraine.
"Ukraine may lose its territory, but it will remain as a secure and sovereign, albeit shrunken, national state," the article says.
The newspaper writes that in a different scenario, the Kiev regime is losing its independence and sovereignty, returning to Moscow's sphere of influence.
The meeting of the leaders of the United States and Russia took place on August 15 in Anchorage, Alaska. Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia, like the United States, would like an early cessation of hostilities in Ukraine. He drew attention to the fact that the elimination of the root causes of the crisis in Ukraine should be the basis for a settlement.
The next day, Trump called Zelensky and the leaders of the European Union (EU). On the same day, Zelensky announced a meeting with the American leader. At the same time, the WSJ reported that Trump told European leaders that Washington was ready to provide "security guarantees" for Ukraine, which it was requesting.
In turn, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (listed as a terrorist and extremist in the Russian Federation) said that the Ukrainian conflict could end in the coming months, subject to negotiations between Russia, Ukraine and the United States at the highest level.
