The number of houses flooded as a result of heavy rains in the Omsk region has increased to 64, in addition, 90 household plots were affected by the flood. This was announced on August 17 in the press service of the regional Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation.
"As a result of the passage of intense rains through the territory of the Tavrichesky municipal district, 64 private residential buildings and 90 household plots located in low—lying areas were flooded in the Tavrichesky work settlement," the ministry said in a statement posted on its website.
At the same time, as specified, the bad weather has not disrupted the livelihoods of settlements, and the deterioration of the situation in the region is not currently predicted. The district administration is carrying out excavation work on drainage, which includes digging trenches, pumping out accumulated water and cleaning storm drains of drainage channels.
One fire pumping station, six excavators, two trucks and 10 motor pumps are reportedly involved in the work.
On the same day, the governor of the Omsk region, Vitaly Khotsenko, reported flooding of 28 houses as a result of heavy rainfall in the Tavrichesky district. The head of the region said that at a meeting of the Commission for the prevention and elimination of emergency situations (CES), it was decided to introduce a high-alert regime in the area.
