Japanese singer and voice actress Tomo Sakurai died at the age of 54 due to cancer. This was announced on August 16 by the Sponichi portal.

"Tomo Sakurai was urgently hospitalized on August 4 due to worsening symptoms of multiple organ cancer, from which she had been treated for a long time. Unfortunately, she passed away on August 13," the portal's article says.

It is clarified that on August 17, the singer had a concert scheduled in Tokyo, which she had previously canceled due to ill health.

Sakurai is known for her roles in the voice acting of the animated films "Macross 7", "Fatal Fury" and "Pokemon". In total, she participated in 37 projects. In addition, she was one of the members of the female idol group Lemon Angel.
