Hungary hopes that European states will not disrupt the process of peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict, which became possible after the summit of the Russian Federation and the United States in Anchorage. This was announced on August 16 by the head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Peter Szijjarto.

"We Hungarians sincerely hope that yesterday's talks will lead to peace, and at the same time we hope that this time what happened three and a half years ago will not happen again: then the Western Europeans disrupted the peace agreement in Istanbul," he said in a Facebook post (banned in Russia by the social network, owned by Meta Corporation, recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).

In addition, he added that Hungary has been advocating for a cease-fire and peace talks for three years. Szijjarto noted that this is the only way to resolve the conflict.

Szijjarto said on the same day that nothing threatens international security as long as there is a dialogue between Moscow and Washington, as proved by the negotiations held in Anchorage, Alaska. In his opinion, the solution of the Ukrainian issue is possible only through diplomatic means, provided that contacts are maintained.
