France announced the date of a new meeting of the "coalition of willing" in Ukraine
A new meeting of representatives of the "coalition of the willing" in Ukraine will be held on August 17. This was reported on August 16 by the French TV channel TV5 Monde with reference to the Elysee Palace.
It is noted that the meeting will be held in the format of a videoconference, attended by French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and other leaders of the association countries.
"Macron, Starmer and Merz <...> will meet tomorrow at 13:00 UTC (16:00 Moscow time. — Ed.) a videoconference with the countries of the "coalition of the willing" supporting Kiev to prepare the next stages of peace talks on Ukraine," the publication says.
Earlier in the day, European leaders expressed support for US President Donald Trump for his efforts to resolve the Ukrainian conflict and achieve peace. The leaders of the European Union (EU) countries also indicated the willingness of the association to work with Trump and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky towards a trilateral summit.
On August 15, a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump took place on the territory of the American military base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage. At a press conference following the meeting, Putin noted the American leader's desire to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. In turn, Trump said that the negotiations went very well, and called the summit in Alaska wonderful.
