Footage of the meeting between the heads of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, has occupied a prominent place in the history of Russian-American contacts. This was reported by the New York Times on August 16.

"The footage that emerged from the Alaska meeting has become outstanding in the history of the US-Russian summits," the material says.

In addition, the publication also noted Trump's unusual gesture — an invitation to Putin to go to a meeting together without assistants in an armored presidential limousine.

The talks took place on the territory of the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Anchorage on August 15. The meeting between the heads of state lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes.

During a press conference following a meeting with the American leader, Putin said he agreed with his colleague's statement that the conflict in Ukraine would not have started during his reign. According to him, he hopes that today's agreements can become a starting point for resolving the Ukrainian crisis and stabilizing relations between Russia and the United States.
