Zenit St. Petersburg announced the departure of basketball player Alexei Shved due to the expiration of his contract. The corresponding statement was posted on the team's website on August 16.

Zenit thanks Alexey for the time spent at the club from the banks of the Neva River and wishes him success in his future career," the publication says.

It is specified that he joined the team back in January 2025.

According to Sport-Express, the athlete took part in 33 matches in the 2024/25 season. He averaged 9.0 points, 5.1 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 0.5 steals per game.

Together with the Swede, Zenit was able to break the League record for the number of consecutive games won — 25.

Earlier, on June 17, Zenit announced the departure of Spanish specialist Javier Pascual from the post of head coach of the team upon the expiration of his contract.

On June 24, former Lokomotiv Kuban coach Alexander Sekulich took over the club. The contract with him is designed for the 2025/26 season and assumes the possibility of an extension under the "1 +1" scheme.
