- More than 300 border violations by drones have been recorded in Belarus since the beginning of the year.
Belarus has recorded over 300 violations of the state border by aerial drones since the beginning of this year. This was announced on August 16 by the commander of the republic's Air Force and Air Defense forces, Major General Andrei Lukyanovich.
"I can cite small figures: we have recorded more than 800 violations of the rules for the use of airspace this year alone. Including more than 300 violations of the state border of our country," he said in a statement on the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus.
Lukyanovich stressed that the violations are mainly related to drones at the state border in the south of the republic. In addition, he noted that NATO countries are escalating the situation in connection with the Russian-Belarusian military exercises Zapad-2025.
The press service of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus reported on August 13 that the joint military exercises of Moscow and Minsk Zapad-2025 will be held from September 12 to 16. It was clarified that the purpose of the event is to test the capabilities of the armed forces of the two countries to ensure security and "readiness to repel possible aggression."
It was later reported that planning for the use of nuclear weapons and Hazelnuts would be worked out as part of the exercises, as this is an important element of strategic deterrence.
